For example, if the user chooses a "Perfect 4th" Ear Expert will play a Perfect 4th and the first few measures, in the case of a Perfect 4th, "The Wedding March". The Interval and song are then displayed in music notation to further enhance the learning experience. The use of a familiar song appears to a feature unite to Ear Expert.

The user can then move to a "Testing Session" and choose to be tested on scales, intervals, modes or chords. The user will click on the "PLAY" button and Ear Expert will play a randomly chosen sample. The use will select an answer or click the PLAY AGAIN button to here the example again. There is also a HINT button to assist the user. After an answer has been selected the Ear Expert will display a message telling the user the answer was correct or incorrect.
